I designed my kitchen using both the oak and the cupboards to paint - one thing I love about the quality of this company is the units are lovely inside so pleasing to use. I also put glass shelves and lights in the glass cupboard which works really well. The larder has bifold doors so can house all my ugly appliances which can be pulled forward - the flexibility of design was brilliant, as was the help getting it all right. I wouldn't recommend designing on your own as I did - a risky and enormously time consuming operation - but the fact they don't offer a design service keeps the cost down and quality high. Worth it.
Great customer service and advice from the very first call and then all the way through (with some virtual planning and weblink calls to show how it would look before we confirmed the order). The units are of great quality and at a good price. Items arrived on time from a friendly delivery team. We love the kitchen we have created and would 100% recommend.
This is the second kitchen we have had from Handmade Kitchens. We are extremely happy with every aspect. We had our first kitchen around 10 years ago. We changed the appearance three times using on trend colours and accessories. We are sure it enhanced the subsequent sale of our house this year. The second kitchen has just been completed in our new self build home. It was, without a doubt, the crowning glory on a year of building and planning. Having looked at a lot of other kitchens, it's quality and value was second to non. We found the process of drawing up simply, with the support of Kevin.Visit one of the showrooms if you are able to see the quality of the units its and choose the finish.
I bought mine 2months ago and was disappointed with the quality, given all of the reviews on here. They were very keen to rectify the issues, however many can't be. I will list the negatives and positives of my dealings. The keys issues I found with my unpainted units were as follows. 1. Internal Oak veneers were rough at the edges and looked terrible. 2. There were pins sticking out of some of the woodwork. 3. Many of the units had chips and dents in them 4. The cutlery insert was terribly made and was sent to me damaged with very bad wood filling. The second one they sent was worse, 3rd time lucky! 5. I bought unpainted units, however when painted, some of the cupboard doors wouldn't shut as enough of a gap wasn't left to allow for painting (even though these are specifically created for painting!) 6. Some of the cupboard doors and drawers do not line up flush with the actual unit. 7. Some the edges on the cupboard doors are finished unevenly. 8. The gap around the cupboard doors on the wall units are not even, and are noticeable. All this very disappointing as I was told in the showroom before buying that these units were Martin Moore level quality....they most certainly are not!Positives. 1. They were keen to pay for rectification of the issues. 2. They offered a good discount for the inconvenience. 3.the units have worked out to be inexpensive for bespoke units (especially given the discount)In summary I would find it hard to recommend these units given the issues I faced. But please be aware of what you're buying, the quality is not the same as is displayed in the showroom.Adding another big negative to this as we've had the kitchen for a few months after it's been painted. I'm sorry to say that the wood is so soft that the slightest knock dents it. I can see us spending a lot of time filling and touching it up over the years. Have downgraded to 2 stars.Also check out the Trustpilot reviews which seem to be more realistic.
We are delighted with the bespoke kitchen that we ordered from the Handmade Kitchens shop in Claygate. The two ladies in the shop were really friendly and helpful and dealt with all of our questions competently. The kitchen is exceptionally well made and looks amazing now that it's all fitted and painted which my husband did himself. The cabinets represent great value for the quality and look as good as any other top range kitchen units, but at a much better price. We would definitely recommend Handmade Kitchens to our friends.
